Nitrile rubber can tolerate short term dry running of the sealing lip. The operating temperature range without failure of nitrile rubber is 40 to +100 C. I love it but the pop out stand can be a little difficult to maneuver. Otherwise it was easy to install. I removed the clear film that is a screen protector just because I already have issues with contact on the glass.
